How can barbie strongly influenced the children psychologically?

We humans are social beings and we learn our behaviours, attitudes and more importantly norms and values early in our life during childhood. Much of what we become later in life is what we learn in these very important years. We are 'socialised' into the world that awaits us when we are just toddlers.

So it is natural that children are bound to be affected by what kinds of toys they play while growing up.

The main criticism of barbie as a play-tool for children has come from different cultures. Barbie is said to inevitably create 'unachievable targets' in terms of the female figure, complexion, choice of apparels and beautification for children starting at a very young age itself.

Barbie has also been a cause for excessive dieting in children attempting to achieve barbie-like bodily figures. This can result in mal-nutrition too!

However, I should also mention that there are only a handful who are against the use of barbie. And on the other hand, barbie can promote a feeling of woman-hood, promote a healthy body (if use is properly interpreted or guided) thereby preventing obesity. Barbie is undoubtedly the MOST owned toys among female children all over the world and personally, I dont feel any harm that can be particularly influential towards  any psychological aspect of a child besides minor problems which too can be prevented if proper care such as direct observation and healthy guidance can be provided !
