  1. It hasn't been legally prohibted from sale.  The only way to get restaurants to not serve it is to outlaw it.  It is not easy to figure out what fish is OK to eat and what is not.  Check out the article at the link if you are interested.  It's from Sciencenotes.

  2. You're right, it is listed as endangered, but hasn't come under the protection of the Endangered Species Act (ESA) or aid from the United States Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS).

It is thought that 75% of the ocean's fish stocks are collapsed or on the brink of collapsing.  The sea has been significantly over harvested -- the impact of climate change is begin to take a serious toll on the world's waters as well.

The one bright spot in this bit of news is that a number of North American and European regulatory bodies on fishing are looking at halting or curbing the trawling of blue fin tuna, along with a long list of other threatened fish stocks.

The question is... are we too late?

  3. It isn't endangered.  The antis want you to believe that so fishing for them will stop.  Heck, according to them  anything that is fished for or hunted is endangered.  If it really were endangered with the threat of extinction it would have been made illegal to catch.  To protect the fish from being wiped out there are limits as to how many can be caught.  Why do you think it costs more some years than others? Because the quota was lowered.

  4. It is the reality of this world. We know that this species is endangered still when we are going to the restaurants we are ordering delicacies made from such endangered species. if we stop consuming these type of dishes, no restaurant will prepared item's with endangered species.

  5. That also really kills me! Yellow Fin tuna is also endangered but still one can also finds it in Restaurants! As long as we keep on eating it they will be serving it untill it is extinct. So if everyone stops eating Tuna all together there will be no need to serve it.
