  1. Not sure what you are asking but I'll try and cover most of it.

You see ALL brake pads wear out.

    Drum or disk brakes.

Now they have a warning sound they will make when they are wore down, it's that squeaky sound or metal on metal sound.

The sound will go away if you ignore it, this is not recommended.

Because you worn down the metal thing that makes the noise.

Then a new sound will be noticed and the brake petal will feel funny.

Because now you are wearing down to the rivets that held the pads to the brake shoes.

Now you'll have to get new rotors because the rivets put groves into the rotor, this is a lot of fun and more profit for the mechanic to fix.

  2. If debris is caught between the brake pads and the rotors, this can cause excessive wear on the pads and the rotors. This is a larger problem with drum brakes.

  3. im with what he said.. but there is also a different way they can ruin or become dangerous && that is when you are riding your breaks. Riding your breaks is when you press on your breaks for long periods of time while driving.

    Hope that helps   :)

  4. Hard driving, hard stopping, ridding the brakes and poor maintenance...................

  5. They wear out.

  6. First off, brakes are considered a safety component on any vehicle, therefore it is ilegal to drive any vehicle with known brake defects.    Any brake defect , regardless how minor is sufficient to warrant grounding of the affected vehicle.
