People dismiss it as a rouse or say the weather has always been like this. Apparently, Britain's climate is the same since the days of Captain Cook. What I want to hear are answers from climate change deniers, on how you can possibly deny it?
If summers were the same in times of old, how come every visual, poetic or musical description of summer is of a bright and florid time? Are you seriously suggesting that in the 1950's & 60's, bridges buckled under rainfall, roads collapsed, and thousands were left homeless due to flooding? Why were outdoor sports traditionally played in summer? Why were umbrellas sold in winter, swimming costumes and fans in summer?
Were the summers I remember as a child pure co-incidence? Were you woken up in the night by torrential downpours? Did people switch their heating on in August in 1967? Did summer events regularly get called off, not due to rain, but severe floods? Did you have days of sun followed by days of perpetual heavy rain and storms?
Were thousands of species dying out, polar ice caps melting, and sea levels rising to treacherous levels in the 1970's?
Answer please, but to prove your point you will need to give incontrovertible evidence confirming the UK's climate was just the same in olden times.
