Question:

How can climate change be denied?

People dismiss it as a rouse or say the weather has always been like this. Apparently, Britain's climate is the same since the days of Captain Cook. What I want to hear are answers from climate change deniers, on how you can possibly deny it?

If summers were the same in times of old, how come every visual, poetic or musical description of summer is of a bright and florid time? Are you seriously suggesting that in the 1950's & 60's, bridges buckled under rainfall, roads collapsed, and thousands were left homeless due to flooding? Why were outdoor sports traditionally played in summer? Why were umbrellas sold in winter, swimming costumes and fans in summer?

Were the summers I remember as a child pure co-incidence? Were you woken up in the night by torrential downpours? Did people switch their heating on in August in 1967? Did summer events regularly get called off, not due to rain, but severe floods? Did you have days of sun followed by days of perpetual heavy rain and storms?

Were thousands of species dying out, polar ice caps melting, and sea levels rising to treacherous levels in the 1970's?

Answer please, but to prove your point you will need to give incontrovertible evidence confirming the UK's climate was just the same in olden times.

  1. beats me

there is a lot of evidence by now

    http://multiply.com/gi/ecowellness:video...

In Tabasco recently ,over a million people were homeless over night because of downpours from super evaporation over Chiapas

But it did not make the American News

a few years ago 3000 people died in Europe related to Global warming

The average death toll is 15.000 annually.

the Water in the polar sea is toxic and the meat from fish and polar bears have very high Mercury levels, due to accumulated toxins from the melting ice.

algae are becoming invasive and killing coral reefs because of warmer waters

whilst other forms of plankton are dying out-

    melting ice

  2. It's a question of HOW MUCH of the current change is due to humans.  Species have died out since the birth of the Earth -- that is nothing new.

You as a believe have the burden of proof to show that Earth's cooling forces can balance 350 W/m2 of radiation along with it's natural variations, but NOT 351.6 W/m2 which includes the TOTAL human emissions.  What makes you think humans can control the weather with such small amounts of energy?

Pretend (and believe me, it IS pretending) that everything AGW believers say is true.  It is STILL WRONG to use the federal government to mandate industries.  People today know better than to trust government regulation, and only do so under the emotional manipulation of global warming hysteria.  In other words, they would think twice if they realized there is no crisis; that is the last thing politicians want.

The government creates 2 problems for every 1 it solves.  Of course, if you think government is a good thing - you simply won't understand what this means.

It sounds to me like your in over your head - climate science is complicated and subtle and there is a great deal of uncertainties that are not discussed.

The big lie is that humans could meaningfully change the temperature of the earth (more than a tiny, tiny amount).  I am all for free market alternative energy, but when the government gets involved people should be skeptical, and rightly so.

  3. No one is ever claiming that the climate has always been the same, if they are they're idiots.

The climate always changes, just naturally, that's just the way it is.  It's always changing and is always unpredictable, which is why it's funny to watch hypocrites like Al Gore freak out about a few degrees in temperature rise over the last century.

Floods always happen in history, you can't just look at the past fifty years or so and come to a conclusion that the Earth is catastrophically warming up.

Sea levels are NOT rising in treacherous levels, the polar caps are NOT melting, and thousands of species die all the time.  The media over exaggerates.

Oh, and the weather's been as normal as ever around here.

At first you didn't give any sources.  Now it's my turn to supply some if you're so picky.

  4. I don't doubt that you have a strong faith in human made climate change.  You point out that a lot of people share this belief.  Yes we know, you don't have to tell us again.  Nobody is disputing that a lot of people believe in it.  We also know that is about the extent of the scientific case for AGW - a lot of people believe in it.

Science is not a popularity contest.  There is no scientific evidence for human made climate change.  There is no good corrolation between CO2 levels and rate of rise of temperature.  There has been rapid warming without CO2 and we haven't seen any warming since 1998 despite CO2 being higher than ever.

The bandwidth of radiation absorbed by CO2 is so small that there are only highly speculative theories on how doubling CO2 could significantly effect the climate.

  5. The links you provided are to leftist sites that promote global warming.  NRDC obviously, the BBC for sure (it has the same mindset as the CBC here in Canada).  The google site was an alarmist site with altered photos.  This is the stuff that Al Gore and his sci-fi flic An Inconvenient Truth are made out of.  Mostly lies and errors, little fact.

Polar ice caps are NOT melting as the greenies say, that's false.  At least no more than they naturally have in history.  Polar bears are thriving more than ever before with largely increased populations in the past few decades.  No species have been identified as dying out due to global warming.

There are certain leftist politicians who want nothing more than to alarm and create fear in the public.  Look at Al Gore...he's the leader of the cause so to speak, and he's rarely said anything that has made any sense.  Why does he say 'the time for debate is over'?  Because there's no science that backs up his theory and he doesn't want to be questioned about it.  The global warming issue is all about politics, and has nothing to do with either science or the state of the Earth.

Tens of thousands of scientists have spoken out against the global warming scam, saying they want nothing to do with it.  Even the IPCC, the corrupt political arm of the UN has had scientists walk away.  Why? Because it's a hoax, and they're too professional to want a part of it.

I'm quite old enough to recall the 60s and 70s with ease, and know the scams that happened in those years.  The gas shortage (because the world ran out of oil), global cooling (an ice age is coming), and others.  This looks the same, smells the same, and has all the political input and fake science that the other scams had.  And I can remember from those years equally bad weather and natural disasters, so don't think those of today can be attributed to climate changing.

  6. In the early 1600s a famous English diarist wrote ' the best way to enjoy an English summer is from a comfortable chair in a warm room'

The Romans managed to grow Mediteranian grapes in Britania 2000 years ago. Make of that what you will

  7. Because it is rammed down your throat every 5 seconds, on tv, in publications, when you shop and now getting screwed by the Government with taxes.

If you go back 100 years and counted how many times the city I live in has been flooded, we would have to put global warming down as being over 100 years old? A local village was flooded early 1920's and never again so has climate change got better there??

The planet over it's life has heated up, cooled down over and over again. Did human interference thaw the last ice age???

  8. RE:  "how can climate change be denied?"

Of course it cannot be denied.  Climate has changed many times throughout Earth's history...... Earth's climate has been much warmer than it is now.  That's the whole point..... the 'man-did-it' religion is attempting to make us believe that climate change is bad... has never happened before...... and is caused by man..... Total nonsense!

I say.... let Gore & Co. go out and find REAL jobs and stop trying to bilk us out of our hard-earned money.  Remember how ethanol was supposed to be such a 'clean' fuel??...... now it turns out to be a bigger polluter than regular gasoline????  Remember the $$Billions of tax dollars that we have spent to subsidize it???  PLEASE, NO MORE!!!

  9. No one is going to disagree with you when you say that the Climate is changing. It is changing, I agree, Scientists agree. the winters are more mild and summers are wetter than they used to be - in the UK at least.

However, what anyone has yet to establish is the cause of the increase in temperatures. Scientists have yet to link man kind to its affects. It could turn out that its something simple and beyond our control or doing.

  10. Climate change seems to be the current buzz word for some areas of the world only? Many countries and citizens have more to think about (hunger, war, drugs, pollution, finances, defence, etc.) than warming.

But the planet has undergone changes for 4.3 billion years and will continue changes for another 4.3.

  11. its a psychological thing. anyone truly unbiased looking at the overwhelming evidence would be convinced, but then, i was in love once, i know how many delusional, impossible, contradictory or plain stupid things even an ordinary person can hold in their head at one time, given the incentive.

  12. If those concerned at climate change are to be roundly suspected of mental abnormality, there is little hope this issue will ever be resolved.

Whats wrong with mental abnormality?  Science told us the world was flat.  Someone with a mental abnormality proved them wrong.

To quote Dr. Conrad Zimsky in the movie "The Core"  Best guess my boy.  Thats all science is, best guess.

So my best guess is that no one really f'n knows, but this is their best guess.

  13. Everything in nature is cyclic by design,so change is inevitable. This will happen again ,it has happened before, how far it progresses remains to be seen.It is just part of the normal refresh and growth cycle,we are merely in the way and can be shrugged off if needed.
