Question:

How can create line pressure in a pool filter system?

Alright list of things I have already tried.

1. We have used diatemacious earth to fill it the same way many would use sand or things of that nature. So this we know for now is not the problem as I and my father have both checked the filters for holes.

2. We have drained the entire pool, blasted out the lines for any chunks remaing leaving them spotless, and then now it has been refilled.

So our lines are all cleaned, the water is fresh so their is nothing int it to cause a clog after it's been blasted.

3. We have changed motors as well and it DOEs pump water around the pool so it's a working pump. However the filter tank itself, fiberglass model, is not building pressure in itself. we've tried the basics like backwash and priming and everything of the sort but it will not keep, or ever GAIN any pressure no matter what we do.

Any other ideas poeple? preferrably home fixes since we've had three failed attempts by pool guys.

  1. The first thing you said is you used D.E. to fill it in the same way as some would use sand.....if your filter is full of D.E,it would be like concrete not allowing water to reach pressure gauge-probably by-passing most of the filter an coming back out...you only use a few scoops of D.E. in skimmer it gets sucked up into filter by pump here is a page with correct amount of D.E. to use: http://www.swimming-pool-information.com...

  2. Your operating pressure should be low when your filter is clean.  If it is zero, check the flow coming back into the pool to see if it feels normal. Put your hand over the outlet to feel the pressure in the pool return jet.  Does the suction feel normal?   If all is normal, replace your pressure guage, it can go bad.  Note:  A flow-meter is fairly inexpensive and easy to install on your return line.  It is a much better way to determine system efficiency.

  3. So your saying water comes out of the pump, after going into the pump, and thru the filter I presume. And you have "prime".

No cavatation? And you say, you just cleaned the filter, did you check the pressure gage inlet orofice for obstruction?

    Could the gage be defective?

  4. let me ask u this, would u rather swim in a chemical pool or a chemical free pool? with 24/7 wireless maintainence... and no filter problems... email me if u want to know how info@itsallhollywood.com

  5. just a thought but have you crossed your hoses ,there is an intake and discharge side, and well you see,........tom
