  1. They learn and imitate from adults, mostly through dress up. A teacher can learn and observe, which aspects the child is missing. Social, speech, sharing. and work on that with the child and to let the parents know about the childs behavior and progress.

  2. Look up in NVQ, CACHE or diploma course handbooks: It gives you ideas, theroist etc that you can take your answer from.

ALSO: look up childrens suppliers like TTS Group, HOPE Education etc as it shows the sort of equipment nurseries and preschools buy and use!

  3. Play is crucial to the development of a child and children's early years are considered to be the most formative years of a child's life. Childcare practitioners need to help children to progress to the best of their ability in a caring, stimulating environment.

Different types of equipment and materials are required to stimulate children in relation to: physical, intellectual, language, creative, sensory, imaginative, emotional and social development at different ages and stages.

Value of providing creative, discovery, imaginative and exploratory play activities and experiences for young children:

-Help child’s attention and concentration levels

    - Encourages ideas of caring and personal responsibility

    - Satisfies and feeds child’s curiosity and spirit of enquiry

    - Encourages reasoning, memory, classification, association, problem solving

    - Promotes language (discovery questions and answers)

    - Develops observational skills

    - Extends child’s knowledge and understanding of the world around him/her

    - Develops the senses

    - Helps memory recall, recognition and prediction.

Make sure that you provide plenty of space and resources for children’s imaginative play (puppets & theatres, structured props, character outfits, dolls & dolls clothes, enclosed areas to provide privacy).
