How can ethnography be used to solve a problem today in the United States?

One of the main problems is that some people try to find differences in people and encourage differences.  We are all capable of assimilating into the culture of America and adding whatever differences there are to the American culture.  The biggest problem around here is that many want to divide people and encourage them to not adopt American language and traditions. They want to leave them in a position of weakness and disadvantage in the name of diversity.
