How can freshwater fish survive in ice covered lakes in the Northern US?

  1. There may be a person with a better answer, but water in lakes is never 100% frozen, only a top layer of the water is frozen. So fish can still happily survive w/o being popsicles for the entire winter.


  2. fish are cold blooded. they'll adapt. not all fish though. and the ice doesn't do anything but prevent them from jumping out of the water when a bigger fish is chasing them. but yeah, there fish, cold blooded.
