When the garbage and animal refuse is processed in a scientifc way, it produces a gas, named as Bio Gas which is widely used as an alternative energy.

depends what type of garbage you are refering too...

kitchen scraps can be turned into BIO FUEL.. especially grease like in restaurants...

many other garbage types cannot be used as "energy resourse" but do have other uses.. eg tires can be used in home construction.

You can burn it, you can convert it to synthesis gas and burn this, or you can bury it and let it decompose then collect and burn the resulting methane.

it could be dried and then burned in special power stations to produce electricity.

wet garbage could be fermented to produce methanol which is a bio fuel.

You burn it to make fuel (biodiesel) and that is used for energy! YAY!
