I have a disorder called Body dysmorphia if you don't know what it is, here's a link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Body_dysmorphic_disorder

well, I basically get so upset sometimes and I hate the way I look.

when I try to explain to my mum why I hate going shopping for clothes and stuff she gets all angry and yells at me.

She thinks its all in my head, like I'm pretending or something!

She think depressed people are just people who want people to feel sorry for themselves!

Its really upsetting how she doesn't understand! I just wish she knew how it feels!

  1. It must be hard to be yelled at for having a real problem. Most girls your age love to go out shopping for clothes and maybe this is why your mom gets angry. You need to impress upon her that this is a real disorder and needs to be treated.

  2. Talk to your family doctor or a school counselor about how you feel. If they agree, then your Mum hearing from a professional that your condition is valid should make a difference. Good luck!! : /

  3. Later your mom will know how it feels but for right now your going to have to deal with it until you get your own place

  4. Have you perhaps considered that you have a disorder called hypochondria?

Generally, people come with questions and say "What is wrong with me".

You come with what is wrong with you in hand and say "How do I make the world see that this is how I am sick?"

See, that wiki says it perfectly. The affected person is excessively concerned about and preoccupied by an imagined or minor defect in his or her physical features. In truth, there is nothing wrong with your body. Maybe you should take some time and consider that it may not be BDD, it may just be the pains of youth.
