How can girls rate the attractivness of other girls (on Y!A)?

Question

how do girls do it. i know theres some lesbians and bisexuals but come on. the most i can do to a guy is give him thumbs up or down if hes attractive. other than that, i cant even come close to giving him a rating.

ive just noticed on the "am i pretty questions" there are about 0 guys answering, and all the girls answer and give the girl a rating and everything.

do girls just have a better sense of attractivness and looks?

i noticed when a girl says "shes gorgeus.." or even as far as "shes hot" about another girl, nobody is like I THOUGHT YOU WERE STRAIGHT!? haha idk.

but idk why that is that girls can see if another girl is pretty or not but guys cant tell how attractive another man is to a girl.. maybe we just pay more attention to the details and thats how we can tell? hm good question.

im a girl, and i only rate the ones that are ugly (basically all of them) saying theyre pretty though, kinda feels weird

Absolutely.  I'm just a regular girl who reads magazines and everything else and has my own concept of beauty.  And besides, it's not like I'm so full of myself where I can't tell someone if they're pretty or not.  (Well, not THAT full of myself).

Generally Girls like judging and evaluating eachother. Oh yeah and guys are less likely to be in the makeup section!

Personally I have never actually rated another girl. I always just tell them to have confidence and guys will like them.

i think girls are just more open and confortable about that stuff. like girls always cry to other girls when something has happened but guys... they are just bummed in situations like that. girls have always been more open! its just in our nature! but peronally i have never rated another girl and i have never asked for a rating cuz i think its stupid!

Everyone can tell if someone of the same s*x is attractive or not... It's just easier for a girl to talk about it than a guy I guess... It doesn't mean we're lesbians or bi... Girls are just wanting to look their best, so when it comes to beauty, we want to share our thoughts... :\

i don't really rate girls but i'll tell them if i think there pretty or not. I guess i can do that cause me and my friends do that. And i also think girls are a bit more able to feel like they can judge and not be labeled as a L*****n and guys are bit more scared or just not into that because they think they'll be labeled as something there not. and i think were just more open in that way.

well i rate because even though we are rating other girls we can still see beauty in other girls. why else would we be mean to other girls. we are jealous of there beauty. but i also do it to make girls that are not sure of them selves feel good about them selves. even though we rate them it isnt g*y. again we can still see beauty in other girls. Good question i never thought of that.

p.s some people rate others just to be mean . they say stuff like eww your ugly ! just so the make the people who ask feel worse.how bad could it come to you have to ask random people you dont know to rate you. they must feel horrible about them selves to do that. boys should start rating!

Girls just want to compare that girl to themselves, and pick out what features they wish they had. Or those that they didn't.... Everybody wants to be beautiful. And plus, it's like asking your best friend if your make-up looks okay. Girls like comfort from other girls, because they actually know what looks good, and can be descriptive. Guys just kinda generalize girls as "Hott" "Cute" "Average" and "Ugly". Girls can pick out what needs to be fixed in order to be more "perfect" I guess. Cheers!

Girls spend a lot of time looking pretty. We wear makeup, fix our hair, do our nails, read fashion magazines, etc. We're also very hard on each other sometimes. Because of these things we are pretty good at determining attractiveness by the worlds standards.

I think it more has to do with the fact that you'll more often hear girls asking their friends "do i look ok?" than a guy.

Also its comfort levels. Girls tend to be more comfortable around eachother in an appearance-wise way (if that makes sense) than guys are. If im drunk at a party i really dont have a problem making out with a girl (im not bi or homo). I never see any drunk straight guys making out with eachother. We like to give eachother advice on how we look, and compare other people's appearances to ours.

Girls are very tuned into what makes a girl attractive because they're so concerned with being attractive themselves.  Therefore, we know what makes a girl attractive or unattractive.  Kinda like the Do's & Don't's.
