Google AdWords are good. Also, AdBrite has ads placements all over the internet.

First off, go ahead and buy a domain (around $12 bucks). Making money on the internet is a lot of work, and you don't want to spend all that time developing a website that you could lose control of.

The most important thing to focus on at this stage is creating some really fantastic content. Doesn't matter what the niche is, but make something useful.

Once you have a steady amount of traffic (at least 100 unique visitors a day), think about adding advertising. AdSense is only profitable if you're in a high paying niche.
