How can i add an alternative spelling to a surname?

by alternative spellings i mean like there is the name KELLY then there is KELLEY

Do you mean when you're recording information on family members who used both spellings?  If so... you could write it as Kelly/Kelley.  If the spelling was changed by a certain generation, you can use the first spelling for the older ancestors, then Kelly/Kelley for the person who changed the spelling, and then the newer spelling for his children and later generations.
