How can i add audio to my HTML website.?

I've been asked to add audio file/plugin to a HTML website i am editing. It can be a windows media file plugin/snippet instead of a flash one. How do i do it and whats your advice for which kind to use!

try with <bgsound> tag ex : <bgsound src="your_audio_file.mp3" />
