How can i add smileys in yahoo messenger?

i tried to add smiley in my yahoo messenger but was not able

at the bottom of ur yahoo messenger, u will have an icon showing smileys. click that to view a number of smiley and choose the one u like from that list.. it will be added to ur send text box, not as an icon but as a code(for example for a happy smiley the code will be :) and so on)... click send or enter to send the smiley.  You can also insert the smileys by typin their respective code in the box, if u know them.
