  1. Assuming they are your employer, and you would be working for Sri Lankan Embassy in UK? If that is the case, this would be done through Human Resources. But I am not getting the full picture here... Perhaps you mean British Embassy in Sri Lanka? Basically, the employer organises work permit, teh embassy of the country you are visiting is the contact for a visa application.
