How can i ask my guy friend this without him taking it the wrong way?

We're just friends but he tends to take things the wrong way sometimes. I haven't seen him in a while, don't like-him-like-him but just wanna catch up with him. how can i ask him to hang out just me and him without him thinking i'm asking him out? he's a big flirt by the way which doesn't make things any better.

just be like "hey, wanna go see a movie sometime? i was thinking a group of us could go" (if it's a group, he won't think it's because you want it to be just you two). or you could just talk to him about who you like and tell him who you like, so he knows it's not him.

How about "Hey, I miss my buddy!  Let's catch up sometime."

Or:  "You and I are great friends, we need to hang out so we can catch up"

Make sure to refer to him as a friend or a buddy so he gets the hint.
