I burn't the AVCHD disc from my Handycam using Sony's VRD-MC5 DVD burner with AVCHD. Now when i play it on my computer it takes lot of time to play and when it plays the movie is lot shaky.

  1. The reason for that is because there is SO MUCH compression using AVCHD, your computer can't keep up. You either need a faster processor or more real RAM (because the virtual memory is too slow). Try quitting out of all active applications on playing back - this will work only  if you have decent amount of RAM and a very new CPU.

Thanks for letting me know - yet another reason to stay away from AVCHD and continue using HDV.
