  1. as long as you dont turn the ball over and act like you have

been there before and you know the plays and calls on

offense and defense, you will make ur teammates more

comfotable. In the meantime, practice practice practice

  2. well u just answered ur question. u know what's wrong with u so go ahead and practice and try to play some tough games to get on top of ur nerves. remember practice

  3. THE PERSON ABOVE ME IS WRONG PRACTICE DOES NOT MAKE PERFECT.

    PERFECT PRACTICE MAKES PERFERCT.

BUT ANYWAY WORK ON YOUR HANDLES, WORK ON DRIBBLING WITH YOUR HEAD UP, HAVE NICE PASSES AND BE SMART!

  4. handle the ball at clutch situations. learn how to score when teammates are not open. just play like a point guard and just step up and be the leader of your team and send them to victory with your skills

  5. being a point guard is an attitude, not a skillset

it's a pass first attitude that allows you to create different offensive looks for your team, with the goal of getting the highest percentage look

on offense..do just that..don't settle for the easier pass, but maneuver your way through the defense and find a cutter..or get to know your teammates and their tendencies..for example know who can get their own shot and give it to them early and pull your man away on d to give him more room to operate..if he is only a spot up shooter..penetrate and pass the ball out

on defense..just watch your opponent and see what his skills and weaknesses are..if he is a shoot first PG, just stay close to him without giving him any good looks and when he wants to drive in, funnel him into your team's big (they will then alter the shot)..if your guy is a pass first PG and doesn't really have an outside shot, then you and sag off of him slightly and maybe double team the best player on the other team, either to pressure him to give up the ball or just go for the steal

these tips will help you big time and you don't really need to learn any new moves or skills to become a better point guard..of course like others have said..a reliable mid range shot, a good 3 point shot, and a good drive in game (need to improve body control and dribbling to do so) would help too, but those tips are a great start.  Good luck!

  6. A really good practice for point guards is dribbling and passing. Get cones and set them up in a line run through them and as you cross in between them switch hands go in between the legs behind the back, just good ways to fake out your opponent. Then set up targets around the cones to "pass" the ball to. Do this bout 1 hour every day and your guaranteed to be a great PG. Work on your shots a little too but mostly dribbling and passing. Good Luck ;).

  7. A point guard is just like a quarterback. If either ones hesitates, they will make a mistake. Your best bet is to just do what feels right. If you see a lane, pass the ball. If there's a shot, take it. If you think you can steal a pass, go for it. You'll mess up, probably big, but you'll learn from your mistakes. Don't be careless, but make a decision and execute it.

Of course if you master the pick and roll, not much more you need to do as a PG.

  8. ALWAYS REMEMBER THIS:

A good point guard has a "Pass first mentality" however to make a good pass, you have to learn dribbling skills (basic dribbling is good enough)....believe it or not, dribbling is the best offense the point can be. why? you can't always pass or shoot the ball without dribbling. right?

take note: do not look at the ball while dribbling!!!

another thing, you must have a wide vision to make you see the whole basketball court so that you will not only see your teammates but as well as your opponents and their positioning.(this idea is to make you pass the ball easier even without looking at your teammates)

Lastly, learn how to shoot perimeter shots & driving to the hoop...shooting 3 pointer is not your first option but if you can shoot it then why not?

another thing i forgot. Speed is also one of the key thing you have to learn. Try to improve your speed every single day....

BTW, Play good and honest defense, cause you know, defense can also win games.

    Got it? Go0d!!!

  9. Practice makes perfect. Sounds like you already know what bothers you and what you need to work on. Now all you have to do is try to get yourself under control when you have the ball. Make sure you know all the plays and be ready to execute them. If you have the skills like you say you do, you should be fine. Good luck!

  10. You can't be out of shape, which also means that you have to have the most stamina. You should run 2-5 miles, 2-3 times a week. Stamina won't be an issue if you do this.

Most players make the mistake by focusing on their upper body in basketball rather then their lower body. They're wrong. Basketball is all about explosive legs, so you should be doing squats 2 times a week, 4 sets of 5-8 reps, heavy sets. Also, strong shoulders and abs will help you to be more of a scoring threat, so if you do military presses 2 times a week and leg lifts every other day, you will be able to drive to the basket with ease. By the way, if you can squat twice your body weight once, you have enough muscle to dunk easily. Try doing that once or twice a month.

Dribble a lot, as much as you can. Practice dribbling low, with your back straight and with your head up. When you practice dribbling, do it different ways. For example: dribble 15 yards with 2 balls low, then high, then middle. Then, use 1 ball to dribble crossover style, then behind the back, then with spins, etc., etc.

Don't be afraid to make risky passes. Hit your post players with some lobs over the defenders, and make sure they're out of reach of the defender.
