  1. Put your 2 hands above your hand with all your fingers spread out.  Your 2 hands should form some sort of triangle shape, but your hands aren't supposed to touching.

Push off your fingertips, not with your palms!!

Practice with a friend.  It's always fun!! =]

  2. Alright, i set a 5 1 for my team and i'm a sophmore on varsity and one of the most important aspects of setting it to get your feet there first.  Nothing can happen unless you are under the ball, set up and hands at your forehead ready to set.

Also, remember that the setter always takes the second ball, unless there is no possible way of getting to it, in which case your would call help, or another players name who can get to the ball.

setting takes a great deal of patience with yourself, your have to allow yourself time to learn how to set to the right positions, and also remembering what players need what sets.   for example, some girls need time for theier approach, which in this case you would give them more of a higher set.  Some girls like it more as a shoot so they get come in fast and hard.  Just remember to personalize the set for each different player.

to be able to set, the formation should sound like this:

right foot a step further then your left, so when you set you push from left to right leg for the distance of the set.  Legs should also be bent down so when you touch the ball you 'jump' upward giving the set hieght.  Arms should be up and hands above the forehead shaped in a triangle shape(like your taking a picture underneath the ball.)

When you touch the ball, it should be one fluid motion, push your momentum from left to right foot, push upward and realease the ball from your fingertip pads.  You should finish by looking like superman with your arms up following through with the set.

    I hope I helped.

  3. practice and practice

  4. its all in the wrists. as long as you have the flicking wrist movement down, and you have relatively decent hands, you should be good to go!

  5. practice. USE FINGERTIPS. and try not to make a big sound

also get a movie from the library or maybe even on youtube today

  6. Learn from a good player, or a good coach, and practice setting whenever possible.

Go to more games. Making game time decision is more important than reading procedures on the paper (or via your browser).

    Have fun.

  7. I play volleyball and setting is really hard to do for some peope or really easily. If you practice and practice and don't see any improvment i would try a differant position.
