How can i be a japanese citizen? i am a filipino and i have a permanent visa here in japan.?

my mother got married to a japanese and when i was 15 years old they made me come here. now im 20 years old. and i want to be a japanese citizen. and i want to know how long its gonna take

  1. It looks as though you qualify under at least article 8(2) of the nationality law, and may qualify under article 5 as well.

    The process can take anywhere from under a year to 2 years.

    You should start by making an appointment with the Legal Affairs Bureau of the area which you reside.  They will be able to advise you on the specific paperwork required, which varies from case to case.
