  1. Do whatever that helps you get in touch with your true nature. Spirituality isn't something that can be accomplished. You simply have to be ready for it, and when the time comes for you to take on a more spiritual view of the world, it will simply happen on its own. You only need to preserve it. I would suggest reading spiritual books to start with (but be careful in choosing them). If meditation works for you, go ahead and do it. And remember: don't force yourself into doing anything. There are no rules in spirituality, there are only simple principles that can help you, and as you get closer to your own nature, you will grasp those principles because they are the same for everything and everyone. But since everyone's understanding of the world isn't the same at one given moment, a book that somebody else found very helpful might not make any sense to you, or vice versa. Btw, a healthy life style can always be helpful.

    Good luck

  2. As Tamara said, study a bunch of religions to find out which suits you best.

Spirituality does not necessarily need a religion though or meditation.  Doing things to help others can be spiritually uplifting.  Go to an animal shelter and volunteer.  Go to the senior citizen home and hang out with a person.  Leave your impulsive desires such as leaving those delicious glazed donuts at the store, remaining calm in a tensed situation such as stuck in traffic, someone bump into you and don't apologize - let it go, and being consciously aware of the things around you can all uplift your spirits and strengthen your spirituality.  It's not being dormant but knowing when to act and when not to act is very difficult for people b/c we live in a reactive society.  You touch me, I react.  You say something negative about me, I react instead of UNDERSTANDING why you said that.  If you can learn to understand first, then act  you'll be spiritually wealthy.  So, whenever you're in a situation - stop, relax, understand, then act.

Meditation can be done anywhere and comes in many forms.  I know one person who meditates in the shower.  Meditation is prayer, concentrating on a certain thing such as a wall which some Buddhists do, or it can be running, jogging.  Meditation is really relieving your mind of ALL stress to do something that requires great concentration and can benefit you mentally.  It is the act of concentrating on one thing, using your mind to focus on that one thing.  It is not like television where your mind becomes numb. Have you tried to focus on an orange for 30 minutes?  It's hard, b/c it's just an orange.  But you get the point, spirituality come in many forms.

  3. Hello

Being a spiritual person is a state of mind.

It is true that meditation can help via calming the ego self, but it is ultimately a decision to be true to yourself, the best that you can & open to all possibilities.

  4. You might like to study all the different religions, a full range, and get an idea if any of them appeal to you.

As for all sorts of meditation, pick one, and do that every day for several weeks at least, then try another one.... don't spread yourself thin and scattered.
