  1. Watch Cung Le, he is the best at just that.

  2. Use footwork, keep your head moving, and, contrary to some teachings, learn to throw strikes from both conventional and southpaw stances. That gives you access to more angles.

  3. by being unorthodox, fight southpaw, bobbing and weaving, etc...

  4. I believe the best thing you can do is make sure your techniques are not telegraphed. Assuming that you are fighting other strikers, they will be waiting for subtle clues to when you attack, like raised shoulders or an arm rearing back for a punch. If your attacks are hidden and surprising, your opponents will have much more difficulty defending and planning a method of attack against you. Sometimes you may telegraph things unconsciously with out knowing it, so make sure you have an honest person critique your sparring.

Another thing you can try is misdirection, the sort of thing stage magicians do to trick the audience. My favorite move would be to raise my guard hand in front high, to distract the opponent's attention high, then quickly execute a side kick to the midsection. Grabbing, pulling, and sweeping opponents off balance is effective too, because it forces them to focus on regaining balance rather than executing an attack. Without balance or stability, a fighter has no power.

Lastly, try side-stepping (or stepping at a 45 degree angle) toward your opponent's rear side. This gives you an advantageous angle of attack, while preventing your opponent from using most of his weapons. From my experience, this works best in conjunction with a grab.
