How can i be confident at my new school?

okay, so, on september 2nd, i will be starting grade 10 at my new school. I dont know anybody, and im naturally shy. My good friend is coming to that school with me too, but she knows some people and shes not that shy. She always seems to steal the spotlight from me. Somehow, i dont know how she does, but it always seems as if im her follower, but in reality im not. How can i make friends and be confident at my new school without always following in my friends shadow?

I was always jealous of the new people. All the guys want to talk to the new girl, just because she is new and interesting. You are mysterious to the other students, and take pride in knowing everyone wants to know about you. Keep a little mystery for a while, don't tell them all your life story on the first day. First of all don't let anyone talk down to you or degrate you. Stand up for yourself. Another thing:Don't take it too seriously. Don't worry and naturally it WILL come to you.  =D
