How can I be on a show like snl or any other sketch comedy shows?Are there open auditions?

Well...you're not going to go from "zero" to "snl" overnight.  They probably have some open auditions each season, but I'm sure shows like that more often scout comedy clubs, improv troups, and sketch comedy troups for talent than pull talent in open auditions.

A lot of local improv troups hold improv classes.  Those people that perform well there are sometimes invited to intern or join the troup, or you can audition for the group.  Find some like-minded people (here or in general) and be funny enough to grow into a popular sketch comedy troup (i.e. The Kids in the Hall, The State, The Upright Citizens Brigade, The Capital Steps, etc, etc, etc) or even one that can find regular work touring.  I'd think these are the main types of groups that shows like SNL, MAD TV, etc. would scout talent from.

There's an improv troupe called Second City (there's one in Chicago and i think one in Canada)... they offer classes as well though.

Many SNL alums are also alums of Second City.

That's very difficult to get in... but yeah they have open audition, just check on craigslist. They usually have audition dates on there. I auditioned for that show about lyrics or something... didnt get in lol...

But yeah, check craigslist. If they're having audition, it will be on there.
