  1. Look in the yellow pages and find a flight school. After completion of ground school, you'll need to take the actual flying lessons. Pass both courses and you will get your private pilots license.

  2. If you are in the USA, contact a local flight school for a "introductory flight". These flights are around $75 and get you a brief ground lesson and brief flight lesson. It is basically just to "try it out".

If you truely plan on flying professionally, contact some of the bigger schools such as American Flyers, Delta Academy, etc. You can get some names and such in any flying magazine.

You will need between $6,000 and $10,000 for your initial Private Pilot certification. It is about $35,000 to $50,000 to go all the way to commercial pilot with enough hours to get a decent job.

You can also check out local schools, some have outstanding degree based flight programs (Embry-Riddle, University of North Dakota, Dowling College, just to name a few).

    Good luck and happy flying!

  3. im becoming a pilot as well when i leave school, last weekend i went to the Aviation Careers expo, and the universities there were all offering "Bachelor in Aviation", which is the theory of aviation and they teach you to  fly as well. The course at the university that im going to go to, runs for three years (it may change at different universities) and the high school courses to do for it are english, maths b and/or c and physics. The best thing you can do is go to the different university websites and check if they have the course for aviation.
