How can i become a psychologist.?

I am considering becoming a psychologist because I enjoy helping people through their problems and i also find the human mind and how it works extremely intriguing. I want to know what steps it would take to reach my goal and some colleges with good psychology programs and their basic requirements. also what type of degree do i need? and lastly do you know of any materials that i could read to further my understanding of the human mind.

First get a B.A. and then get a PhD. The APA says all psychologists have a PhD. For good books and info on psychology, see site below. UPenn has a great program for psychology with Dr Seligman as a professor there.
