  1. Thats the best way - call up the local stations - tell them you want to be an intern and will work for free.  It may take some time - be persistent and eventually you will get what you want.

  2. phone up all the radio stations and see if you can have a meeting with the d j  and go from their good luck on this

  3. The most important thing you need is a demo. The best way to go about that is to join a volunteer station and the easiest route is via hospital radio. You won't be able to jump on the air right away but if you put in the time you will eventually get to present request shows and then your own show.

The great thing about hospital radio is that you get a lot of experience and you get to find out for yourself where your strengths and weaknesses are behind the mic.

When putting your demo together, you need to "top and tail" it - that means you don't need to include the records you're playing - just the beginning and end where you might be speaking.

Then just keep sending it out and keep refreshing it as well. Radio is a tough business to get in to and in many cases you need to be in the right place at the right time, so keep plugging away and I wish you the very best of luck.
