  1. just eat vegtibles

  2. First of all, I wouldn't suggest becoming a vegetarian, until you do talk to your parents. I am a Mom of 2 grown adult children and I wouldn't reccomend it. Plus I would talk to your Doctor and let them know why you want this. People need some animal products unless your health prevents it. Just eat more veggies than meats, this should help whatever reason/s you have to become a vegetarian. Take vitamins and minerals. Let others know why and how you got to this point. I hope this helps?

  3. That's great you're interested in going vegan! Some people go vegan overnight, while others make a more gradual transition. Here is a guide to making the transition in one month: http://www.tryveg.com/cfi/toc/?v=06makin...

A healthy vegan diet includes a variety of fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts, and grains. There are vegan fake meats and non-dairy products for things like milk, cheese, butter, and ice cream. Do some taste-testing since some brands taste better than others. Here's a list of some popular products:

I would tell your parents that you've done a lot of research about veganism and have decided to give it a try. Ask if they have any questions or concerns, and then address them in a calm, rational way. Timing is important -- don't bring up veganism when they're stressed out or distracted.

    I hope this helps!

    EDIT:

People don't need animal products to be healthy, as one answerer claimed. The American Dietetic Association is one of the nation's leading nutrition experts and it supports vegan diets for all ages: "Well-planned vegan and other types of vegetarian diets are appropriate for all stages of the life cycle, including during pregnancy, lactation, infancy, childhood and adolescence."

  4. Stop eating animal products, silly.

You have to decide that you don't want to buy into animal industry anymore and look for foods that don't contain them.  Usually, it's not the sort of decision where someone wakes up and says, oh, I want to be a vegan today.  It's more like a decision where one is horrified about what happens to animals kept for food, milk, and eggs.

Check out www.happycow.net, www.vegdining.com for restaurants.  Happy Cow also has a forum and message boards.  Vegetarian Resource Group (www.vrg.org) will give you the health aspect of being vegan and how to ensure you get all the nutrients you need.  Veg Web (www.vegweb.com) has lots of recipes.

Check out Compassion Over Killing (www.cok.net).  If you live in North America, you can ask for a vegetarian starter guide that will have a few recipes.  If you live elsewhere, Google vegetarian starter guide, and you should find another organization thath will send one to you.

Vegan Wolf is another informative site for newbie vegans.

    Good luck!
