  5. Hi,

You get started by first finding an exchange organization. Make sure that it's CSIET listed (www.csiet.org). Also, ask your high school counselor for a recommendation as an organization is only as good as its local representatives. Generally, AFS, Aspect, Rotary and YFU are reputable everywhere. Rotary will be the cheapest, but most competitive.

However, I do question you wanting to go to London! One of the biggest benefits of an exchange experience is language immersion! By going to England, you don't experience that! I highly recommend if you go to the time and expense of an exchange year, you pick a country where you can learn another language. It will greatly benefit you both culturally and financially down the road!

    Good luck!

  6. Your best bet is to find a college that has a good exchange program and I recommend that you go abroad in your sophomore or junior year of college. Some colleges actually require that from what I remember.  This way you get a lot of your core classes out of the way.

  7. Every school has different policies regarding that.. but the best things to do would be to research your options online and then talk to your guidance counselor and ask his/her advice.
