  1. My mom used to tell me that anyone could do a split.  She explained that you have to stretch every day, holding certain positions for longer lengths of time every day.  Also, you must try to stretch the muscles further every day.  Eventually, you should be a lot more flexible.  Your running will probably help out a little too, as it makes your muscles limber.

  2. Most importantly: stretch every day, lengthening each stretch period as the days continue. I have taken ballet for years and at the start I wasn't flexible either. Stretching lots of times during the day helps . Touch your toes while you're waiting in the lunch line, etc. One great stretch is lying flat on the floor and pressing your legs straight against the wall for ten minutes; it really loosens up your muscles. When you run or sprint, make sure you stretch before or after or your muscles will become tense. Here are some websites to help:

    Hope that helped! :)

  3. I highly recommend that you try doing yoga.  You don't really need to invest in anything (I do it and I don't even own a yoga mat; the floor or a blanket is fine for me), and you can download free, 20- or 30-minute podcasts (I can't really remember) from the iTunes store entitled Yogamazing.  Each week a new one is posted that is dedicated to a specific type of activity or problem (ex: yoga for headaches, yoga for fat burning, & yoga for skiing are all titles that can be downloaded).

If you can't find time to do that, I recommend that you look up a few simple stretches to do in the morning and at night.

    Best of luck!

  4. From my research, it seems that stretching every day is incredibly beneficial. So an activity like yoga is great (not to mention the relaxation it offers).

I've found a few helpful sites on the subject. The second one is geared towards dancing so you might like to explore that one a lot. The YouTube video is really great if you want some help getting the stretches right. I know I learn a lot better by seeing something than reading it.

As you dance more I'm sure you'll get more flexible too so in no time at all you'll be touching those toes!

    Hope I helped :)

  5. Well flexibility foremost depends on your own body. but the best and worthwhile way to be more flexible for me is to try Yoga or Pilates, they will definitely improve your flexibility. Also Stretch more often, upon waking up and try to increase or reach further, it will gradually loosen your muscles enabling you to reach further, hence becoming more flexible. :)

  6. if you stretch everyday, and run often. you can easily get more flexible.

and as far as touching you toes just keep trying :), the more you try the more easier it will be to touch your toes.

i personaly am a gymnast and everyday in training we have to do a thing called conditioning. and its were you try a different arrey of stretches in order to become more flexible, it is easier if you do stretches with a friend, that way they can stretch you muscles for you

here is a website for you to visit :)..
