How can i better manage a class of 5 grade boys.?

I am starting school from tomorrow & this is my new appointment. I want to give an impression of a disciplined but loving teacher. The class is thght to be quite misbehaved

If they are misbehaved then your job on day 1 is not to show any sign of weakness. You should teach them what they need to do to navigate your classroom, the proper procedures for everything, from lining up, to raising their hand, to what they do right when the walk in in the mornings, do they sit down and then you call them to hang their bags up, or do they put everything away right away and then sit down?

You need procedures for everything and make sure you have a tight leash. There's no smiling until after Winter Break. This is the general rule I use when getting a new group of students.

Make a Behavior Plan based on what your students like and would want for a reward. Ask them to help you with the behavior plan on the first day. Say, for example, if you refrain from doing these things________, this is what you will get. Tell them that the rewards have to be reasonable (you can't buy them a car). Sometimes making the students part of the plan makes them feel as if they have some control over things, which is what they want.

Not going to write a novel here, but have rules set for the room. Allowing the students to come up with the rules to the classroom is a great activity. You can then type a contract for them to sign, and if they stick to the contract they get a reward. Having a class goal to work toward and having a reward when they reach the goal is also something you could do.

divide and conquer. Make their seating position, boy girl. Place the ugly ones next to the attractive ones, it will discourage chit chat.
