How can i boost my wifi signal?

Question

i share my wifi with my neighbors, (i pay them so i can use it) and so they have the router. i want a way to boost my wifi connection for free or at very low cost. i asked them to put in winsurfer but they said it was fine already so what i wanna do is increase my connection to the router from my computer. if there is anything homemade with the materials that i obviously have and costs less than $5, please tell me! (i have copper wire)

oh ya my adapter is a belkin wireless g, i dont wanna buy another!

Download a program called TCPoptimizer. Its free, no malware. Run it, turn the slider all the way up and click the optimized icon. You will need to reboot. You mite check your speed before install and after. Many variables here, they may have capped your speed at the router, their provider may have it capped, if any of the later, dont expect a change. Using TCPoptimizer WILL set your PC up to work optimally between your PC and the router and you may gain anywhere from 0 to 15 mbps or more.

Remove the antenna from your adapter and extend it with wire and and mount it as high as possible outside your house facing your neighbor.  You need to use shielded wire, not ordinary wire, to minimize interference.

i dont think u can increase the signal with a budget of $5.. normally, what people do is changing the routers antenna to a higher gain, it can be 5dBi, 7 or more.the higher gain, the more expensive it would be.alternatively, u can opt by upgrading your laptop's antenna.u need attach an external antenna to your adapter. it also can be done by using repeaters. it is much like the access point, but it is mainly used to increase the signal strength made by the wireless router.
