How can i break my contract with catering hall?

I signed a contract 2 weeks ago for a catering hall. I want to leave because the managers are rude. Unfortunately the contract states that if i break the contract and they cannot find someone who wants to have an event on the same day, I am responsible for the entire amount I would have paid if i had had my wedding there anyway. How do I get out of this one?

  1. Breech of contract on their behalf. They were not performing as they stated they would. As in, they were not professional in their service or mannerism. They cannot force you to have your reception there

Please see this website, you can break it due to breech of contract. It's stated at the very bottom.

  2. That's a tough one.  If that is what the contract states, then you may be legally responsible for that bill.  Is there an over or manager above them you can speak to?

Also, post this on lawguru.com and get a legal answer

  3. Read your contract thoroughly to see if there are any clauses which have been broken. If you absolutely have to get out of the contract, consult with an attorney in your area who specializes in contract law/ many times they will offer free consultation, but if they don't, paying a lawyer their hourly fee to keep from paying thousands would be wise.

  4. You contact an attorney . . and let them handle this.  I surely hope you have a copy of the contract, and if you do, then take it to an attorney so they can review it.  Yes, you are going to have to pay for an attorney BUT it may be to your benefit.

  5. You can go on wedding sites and forums that cater to brides in your area and announce that you must give up this catering hall for whatever reason and that its available.

State how much they charge and/or good points the hall may have. This way you increase the chances of someone else booking the hall and let you off the hook!

  6. Did  you put a down payment on the Hall? That is usually how it works, you should have read the contract before signing.

  7. sit down and talk to them. Explain to them they do not want you to have your event their because they are being so rude to you and give them examples so just do both of you a favor and let you out of the contract. I believe when you sit and talk to most people they are normal. They will either change their minds & attitude and be very nice to you or think you are a crazy bridezilla and do not want to work with  you and let you out of t your contract.

  8. Youll have to pay if they cant find someone. Its in the contract, and you signed it.

Or, you could try to find someone to take the date, and offer that couple a couple hundred bucks to take the date. Then youre only out a couple hundred bucks, and they make some money too. But it wont be easy to find someone who is actually interested in the place.
