How can i bring life back to faded vinyl house siding?

We painted over the vinyl siding.  It really came out

looking new and just great.

painting defeats the purpose if siding. once you paint, it becomes a maintenance issue. contact a reputable pressure washing co. in your area. they will be able to clean your siding and spray a protective sealer on it that will make it look new again. i have had this done on several of the houses that i worked on with great results.

Don't paint at this time! Check the warranty (and read the fine print) on the vinyl siding.  Most has a lifetime or a delta e color fade of 3 - 6 units on the color.  And is usually transferable to the next homeowner.  If you know the mfg. of the siding, take a piece that is faded worst and submit to the company...document everything. Most mfgs have a kit or paperwork that will have to be filled out.  Be relentless with the warranty person. If it falls within their guidlines ask for the reading back wait 6 months and resubmit.  Their product will not usually stand up to the warranty they back it with and only a small % complain...If you don't know the mfg. take a small piece to the local lumber or vinyl supply house.  Each mfg has a unique texture to their siding and they might can help id.  But will still need proof of purchase...canceled check maybe....If it falls outside spec the mfg is required to take care of it at their cost...

Most vinyl siding only has a life of 20 to 30 years. If the siding is not chalky, you can clean and paint it with paint formulated for it. Do not paint it a darker color that it was originally, the siding may warp and peal.

I personally recommend Benjamin Moore paints, but if you go into any paint store (not a home improvement store) you should get great advice. Preparation will be key to getting a good and lasting paint job.
