    Practice forms - preferably with many low stances and at a slow pace for at least one hour a day . . .

    Get a cool nickname - like "grasshopper"

    These are just a few ideas of developing your chi - please do these in moderation as your chi can be strong enough to blow out candles when you perform forms and the energy can burn others when you perform these forms too close, so be careful with these secrets I have taught you . . .

  3. Building up Chi takes a very long time, just to start.

    You have to learn of the five regulations and how they are intertwined. This helps you to bring your understanding of yourself to a new level. Once you have done that you will most likely have been working some small circulation and grand circulation/(basically anything physical).

    In the initial stages you are strengthening and opening your gates and meridians so the flow is free and full. Then you will go through a cleaning phase in which you "wash" the external(fire) Chi with the internal/original(water) Chi.

    Once you've been doing that for about a year or so you are strong enough and knowledgeable enough to move on to the different methosd you can absorb Chi, as there are a few.

    If you don't have tons of money I would suggest you go to the YMAA(Yang Martial Arts Association) online and pruchase a video or two. All real videos will be somewhat pricy along these lines, as they are a lifetime of knowledge and research. If you only have $40 or so, you can go to Barnes N Noble or Borders or BooksAMillion...etc and get "THE ROOT OF CHINESE QIGONG, MUSCLE/TENDON CHANGING&MARROW/BRAIN WASHING CHI KUNG" books. Both are by Dr. Yang Jwing-Ming and are fantastic NECESSARY peices of information for anybody delving into the world of Chi... Unless you have 8 hours a day to spend learning about it.

    now i actually have to answer the question.

    who told you to "build up your chi"?

    the problem with "chi" is that there is no uniform definition. some people refer to it as something legitimate like structure, technique, stregth(physical), adrenalin, better overall health that leads to better conditioning, etc.

    however, the problem is that the VAST majority of people don't refer to it as that. they throw in some "magical" definition that is rampant in qui gong or guys like george dillman who claim to be able to do a "no touch ko" and yellow bamboo (to name the most noteable figures).

    if you are asking me how to "get stronger" and get more power into your techniques definition of building your "chi" then I would say to do some stregth training AND improve your technique and learn to properly- through proper technique and structure learn to utilize a greater percentage of stregth you have by using body parts in combinaiton to strike, lock, throw, etc.

    if you are looking to shoot force blasts from across the room and have creepy men in black armor and capes play with lightsabers then by all means, go LARP (live action role playing) with yellow bamboo and the pathgate institute all you like.

  9. Wudang 'Taoist' Kung fu (not Shaolin 'Buddhist' kung fu) is the style which very much emphasizes 'chi' and has loads of chi exercises, diet programs, and chi-philosophy.

    Qigong exercises  tend to be 'chi' development exercises.

    Chi (or ki) can also be viewed as life force.  Obviously anyone with great 'life force' can transfer that force to their martial techniques.
