  1. its almost wholly determined by your drive speed. current dvd's are capable of being burned at about 16x. Current dvd burners are available rated at 20x but realistically they only burn at 16x. The software you use make little difference to the speed of the process. If you have a laptop the cheapest option would be to get an external drive. most laptop drives are 8x or slower. If you have usb 2.0 then thats the type to get. cost about $55-60. If you have a desktop, a replacement drive is about $30. They are easy to swap - 4 screws, two cables.

  2. there is not really any way to make your dvd burn faster.

but have you considered maybe getting a different software

  3. You can try Cucusoft Mpeg/Mov/rmvb/DivX/AVI to DVD/VCD/SVCD Converter Pro which is easy to use and very fast. It enables you to convert and burn any video file directly to VCD, DVD, and SVCD. And it has great video edit function. So it becomes an all-in-one VCD/SVCD/DVD Creator. And it has been optimized for 64 bit CPU.

You can download this software free from here:

  4. Get a USB EXT DVD 52x Burner  and set it to 16x and get the Nero Program Suite. Nero does the trick with External Burners.

A cool one can be found at Target for about $45.

  5. find the settings and turn up the burn speed or just get a faster processor.
