How can i burn ifo, mpegs to dvd?

i downloaded a movie and am trying to burn it to dvd. it has a bunch of mpegs files and ifo files. i know ifo files tell the mpegs files what to do and cant play with out them. so they both should be on the disc. but my media center says the file is empty or not a video file, when i try to burn it. i have burned mpg files before with windows media center. but it wont work for theese but it does play them. should i invest in a dvd burner or am i doing somthing wrong.
