How can i buy the iphone 3g without a contract?

Im from ireland and am visiting the states i want to buy the iphone but can't sign up for the contract is there anything else i can do?? and do you know how much it would cost?

actually there is a site that claims to UNLOCK the new 3G to use with any service: unlock-the-iphone.com

Well you can buy the phone, no problem, its just You pay little/nothing if you get a contract.

Keep in mind if you are planning to use iPhone 3g on another network it is not possible as of the time of this answer.

iPhone 3G cannot be unlocked at this time, it can be only jailbroken.

AT&T will have payasyou go for iPhone later this year.  Just stop by the store and ask them.
