  1. I heard Alicia Keys once refer to the famous piano composer "chopin" pronounced "Show-Pan" as her "dog".  She is a brilliant pianist as well, but I will never get that out of my head.  It just sounded retarded.

I'm sorry this doesn't answer your question.  Try watching reruns of the t.v show Dawsons Creek, and mimic what the girls on there say.

  2. try reading some books that should teach you.. and im not just trying to be a smart ****, im serious, reading a book can enhance your vocabulary and the way you talk.. you will be amazed on the improvment.

  3. Or you can take etiquette classes or if you have $$, go to Finishing School.  It teaches females how to be more lady-like..including speech. You could also try to hang around others who don't have that "ghetto" tone and over time, it could go away.  However, an accent is an accent..it doesn't just POOF go away. You're more than likely going to have to put no a fake proper accent on when applying to jobs.

  4. I applaud you for wanting to get rid of your ghetto-like speech. Ghetto voice inflection might be cute sounding in the ghetto, but not anywhere else. It's not sophisticated or cosmopolitan sounding or attractive sounding to most. It also makes you sound dumb and ignorant, even if you are not dumb.

It's not easy to change the sound of your speech, but it can be done. I successfully got rid of my homosexual sounding speech lisp, which I absolutely despised. I did it the way Hollywood actors change their speech, practice in front of the mirror with a tape recorder and by mimmicking speaking voices that you like and that sound more cosmopolitan.

By the way, this is something that the late actress Marylin Monroe used to do all the time to perfect her seductive speech and expression. No she never became and award winning actress, but she did become a superstar , a force to be reckoned with, and was adored by the world.
