  1. Go to -right click on My Computer-manage-hardware manage and change your CD drive to lets say X.Then C will be free to use-then change HDD to C.After that change your CD drive to what letter you want-that means a letter that is not used yet.

OH ! some computers you can't change the boot letter unless you reinstall your OS.

  2. 1. Disable your CD-rom drive: start>configuration panel>System>Hardware tab: Device management.

    2. Reboot

    3. Click on My Computer to see the effect.

    4. If it worked, enable your CD-rom drive again.

  3. You have to do that in the set up. Most computers tell you on the screen what key to press when you boot it up to enter set up. In there you will see the boot order of the drives. You can move them to what position that you like. don't forget to save changes when you are done. for instance..when I start my pc the screen reads press DEL to enter set up. That is the delete key. I boot my pc and hold down the delete key and it takes me to the set up area. Good luck. When installing an operating system the drive that you are installing from needs to first in the boot order or the pc will not boot from it.

  4. Check this out http://www.petri.co.il/change_system_dri...

Again, above article involves modifying settings in registry. It will work for you, but please attempt only if you are comfortable doing registry changes. If you are a computer geek, then go for it

    Good luck!

  5. You can try this, doubt it will work since changing the letter of the boot drive is a no-no.  Right click My Computer and select Manage.  From there click on Disk Managment.  Right click the C drive and select change drive letter. Change it to D or E. Then do the same for the boot drive but change it to C.. It may tell you you can't.

If it won't then you should remove the extra harddrive and cdrom. Leaving only the boot drive and one cdrom. Then boot of your XP cd and go through the steps to do a repair reinstall.  DO NOT hit R at the first repair. When you get to the part where it displays the EULA and you have to hit F8, then it will ask if you want to repair windows. So basically the second repair option.

This wmay help but will not delete any files.
