I designed one water turbine from a small running stream to generate electricity through cylce dynamo. It is producing the voltage varying between 6V to 10V AC sometimes. Is there any drawbacks with this charging voltage variation to above battery ?

  2. You will find a lot of info on line using the search words "dynamo wiring diagram".

Basically what you are dealing with is a generator similar to that used in automobiles until the alternator replaced it. You probably have a 2 wire set up and you will have no problem sorting it out. Look at automotive books or on line at vehicles like the old model Volkswagen Beetle from the 1960's and wiring should be similar.

If the equipment came from a car or aircraft look that up to find info on repair or hookup or look at the manufacturers web site (even old items can be found) and type in the model number. You will be surprised.

You may want to design an over speed device to keep the equipment from self destruction. Use a brake like what might be found on a windmill or a bicycle gearing device that can be set manually by you (slower on high fast water days, etc) or figure out how to do it automatically (a good exercise in creativity).

6 volt batteries actually are a bit higher than that but too much input can ruin it or other equipment and could be dangerous causing fire or battery explosion. Murphy's law states that it WILL blow up IN YOUR FACE if you get close at a bad time (Thanks again Murphy). Have fun.
