How can i clean my fur boots without letting the fur mat?

okay so i have some boots that are kinda dirty and i wanna clean them.. how can i without getting the fur matted?? im not sure if its okay if i put them in water. help plz! thanks :)

  1. Just a thought, but it seems like it would work since they are fur.  

    Pet stores carry waterless & rinse-free dog and cat bathing products.  They come in several forms including wipes, liquid that you massage in but don't have to rinse out; spray to comb through; powder, etc.  Since the products are also made for cats which have pretty fine, easily matted fur, I would think they would work for any kind of fur.  

    I have used a rinse-free human body wash (for people who are bedridden) on dogs, and it cleans very well and leaves no residue.  I've also used a powder cleaner on a cat, but found that it took a lot of work to get the powder out of the cat's fur.

    One caution -- the fur on your boots might be dyed, so I'd test a small area first for color-fastness.
