How can i clean my silver?

I have a mellophone, it's an instrument similar to a french horn. it's made of a metal that looks silver but i'm not sure it's silver. what can i use to clean it without damaging it?

  2. i really don't know what it is called but it is a certain kind of cloth that is one side buff and the other side is shiner sorry i don't know any brand of it right know but good luck cleaning ur mellophone!!!!!

  3. I know it sounds too simple to be true, but dawn dish soap is what I use and it works great.

  4. you can use either baking soda and water made into a paste, smeared on and set for a few then rinsed off with water and dried immediately or it will start to tarnish again.

    OR

    regular toothpaste, not the new fancy kind with 12 hour protection, just regular plain toothpaste

    OR buy a commercial cleaner like Tarn-X
