  1. cleaning is not that hard. its the staining that is your biggest problem.

If you clean it regulary (once a week)  a solutin of dawn dish soup and water will cut the grease and you can follow it up with a multi surface cleaner to get rid of the streaks. but the Turmeric staining requires stronger cleaners these will damage the paint over time and in a few years if not sooner you will have cleaned thru the paint to the bare metal. once this happens buy a stainless steel hood they will hold up to your style of cooking better.

also the filter (if your hood has filters are most commonly aluminum you can put these in a bath of phosphate cleaner and they will stay ok.  if you really want them to shine put them in a bath of week acid a couple a lemons juiced to a cup of water will work and leave them in there for a few hours.

  2. Formula 409.   It cuts grease very well.   Put the metal filter elements in the dishwasher.

  3. I have a stainless steel vent and I use Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. I cut it into big cubes and just follow the instructions in the package. It removes all the grease.

I then wash it with soapy water (dishwashing liquid), rinse, then dry.

(I am sure the Magic Eraser will keep your exhaust white because I also use the eraser for my white MacBook.)
