How can i combine two clips in one?

Question

what programs can help me do it? obviously not windows movie maker. so i have this two clips and i want them to be showing at time. one clip on the left and another on the right. like the one you see in the news when one reporter is at the studio and one is somewhere and they're conversing. so please I'm begging you.... help me figure out this problem!
