  1. The visa issued you usually had a window of 6-10 months in which you had time to come to Canada.

Why did you choose to come when your Mom was ill? Now you had to choose between her and your migration. Then, I do not think your Mom would be sick for a very long time. Why did you not go back to the embassy that issued you the visa in the first place and complain about the treatment that you received in Montreal?

If I were the visa officer, I would make you go through the whole process again simply because I find that the 2 years you waited before bringing this story to my attention tells me that you are not interested in migrating to Canada at all.

Chances are, there may be merit in your story HAD you brought it up as soon as you had the time.

Go to the Canadian Embassy that issued you the visa and be ready to answer why it took you so long to come to this realization.

  2. Contact the Canadian embassy on your country and tell them exactly what happened.... the only thing though is once a visa expired, you'll have to start from the very beginning..... in your case, you already had your landing paper issued and just needed the port of entry stamped which there was some complication..... what I don't understand is why you didn't do something about it as soon as your mum's problem was finished... but anyhow.... just go to the nearest Canadian Embassy or Consulate near you..... that's the best thing you can do..... hopefully they will consider you a landed immigrant still and that the allowed time of being out in Canada as a landed immigrant hasn't gone through which you can read on this site: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/newcomer/re...

and here's the site for all the visa offices of Canada: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/offices/mis...

    All the best.
