How can i connect my Xbox 360 to my Vista home premium PC via ethernet cable and without a router?

My pc is connected to wireless router via usb reciever, and i have an xbox 360 in same room that i would like to connect to my PC to just download stuff on it, if possible to connect to xbox live for updates that be nice too but i just wanna connect via ethernet cord and without a router is this possible ive been googling for answers and have no luck

you would need to use internet connection sharing, it is pretty complicated and involves your desktop having the ability to output its connection through the ethernet port.

really the only difference between these instructions and your situation is that you are using a USB receiver instead of a cable.  The result should be the same, unless your computer is lacking an Ethernet port.

use a crossover cable.
