Your HT probably has more than one input - use one for computer one for TV.  If you use cable or satellite - connect the convertor to the HT (instead of TV).

use a 2X1 VGA Switcher it takes two inputs and one output

output to be connected to Home theater system and one input each for computer and television

I'd do it like this. headphone jack splitters, 1/8 inch cable w/ both male and female parts for your surround sound. also an extra long S-video cable for computer to television capability. HDTV s-video cable if you have an HD screen, of course.
