  1. This depends on what type of connections your sub and and receiver offer.  Here's something to try if you have left and right speaker input/output on your sub (powered terminals not signal or "line level").

Run speaker wire from the L and R terminals on the receiver to the L/R speaker input on your sub.  Then run speaker wire from the output side to your speakers.  In this case make sure and turn subwoofer off or none in the receiver so that all of the bass goes to the L and R channel and gets to the sub.

But you might not have powered speaker input/output connections on your sub. In that case you might have either a wire coming out of the sub or just an input terminal.  In this case you need a way to power it but your receiver likely doesn't have a connection to power a sub.  However your receiver likely might have a sub woofer signal output.  In that case use the signal out from your receiver to the pioneer amp you have and run speaker wire to the sub.

If your receiver is older and doesn't have signal (non powered) output for a sub and your sub doesn't have speaker input and output powered connections then you might be screwed.  In that case your only hope would be that your receiver has pre-amp out or "line-level" for L and R channel speakers then you could run that into your amp, then power the sub from there.

I know this might sound confusing but to help simplify I need more info on your sub and receiver to give better instructions here.
